Description

The first thing that comes to mind about this cold-weather accessory:

  • It’s definitely worth knitting for yourself!
  • The softness and warmth of alpaca yarn is indescribable.
  • The hooded scarf is light and comfortable, even during the busiest days. And I say this as a mom who sometimes doesn’t even have time to zip up her jacket. 🙈
  • It fits perfectly into both everyday wardrobes and paired with a classic coat with a “V”-shaped neckline.

In this guide, you will learn how to knit this hooded scarf in stockinette stitch with a lining, as well as what materials are necessary to make it.

Difficulty level – intermediate.

Recommended skills: magic loop technique, knitting and purling, increasing and decreasing, grafting technique.

Video tutorials are available for all stages of the work.

Recommended yarn:

  • Basic yarn (A) = Drops Air + Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk, held together, for the hood and collar.
  • Drops Air (Aran, 8 wpi), 65% Alpaca, 28% Polyamide, 7% Wool; 50 g = approx 150 m / 165 yards
  • Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk (Aran, 8 wpi), 77% Alpaca, 23% Silk; 25 g = approx 140 m / 155 yards
  • Yarn (B) = Drops Air single strand for the lining and I-cord.

Amount of yarn used in the sample:

  • A – Green Drops Air 3pcs, ~120 g / 180 m / 200 yards

    • 4 mm (UK size 8, US size 6)
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Contrast color yarn – approximately the same thickness as the main yarn for crocheting the braid (preferably stiffer yarn to make it easier to unpick the braid afterward). Additionally, you will need a scrap yarn or stitch holder.

  • Crochet needle ~6.0 mm (UK size 4, US size 10)

Perfect pattern! Everything is clear and doable for anyone.
It’s hard to believe you can knit such awesome things yourself.
You’ll definitely get asked, “Where did you buy it?”
Once you’ve made one, you’ll already want a second. Thank you! 🤍

Easy to knit. And such an understandable pattern.
    It’s even a little addictive – I’ve knitted several! 🫶
